Why is everyone's favorite Beatle John Lennon?

I mean, he didn't even write as many songs as Paul, he didnt really have an instrument to identify himself with (George had guitar, Paul had bass, and of course Ringo had drums), and I think the best songs he wrote was during their early career, in which his songs were even better than Paul's most of the time. So, in other words, I think Paul is my favorite. Of course, the beatles probably would only be half as good if it weren't for John himself, but still..
