John Lennon fans !!! what kind of guitar was he playing in NYC concert?

Yes, but not just any Les Paul Jr. The John Lennon LP Jr. was modified by New York luthier and guitar repairman Ron DeMarino. The modifications DeMarino made to Lennon's 1050s Tobacco Sunburst Les Paul Junior entailed adding a Charlie Christian pickup in the neck position in addition to the P-90 at the bridge (Lennon was a fan of Christian's work) and adding a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece. Lennon also had the finish sanded down to bare wood and had a pickup selector switch wired in. On August 30, 1972, Lennon used his customized Les Paul in its new raw wood state during his famous benefit concert at New York's Madison Square Garden. Today, the original John Lennon Les Paul Junior is on permanent display at the John Lennon Museum in Japan.
