What is the most popular and/or best Metal genre/band(s) TODAY?

If you class it as metal then i would say metalcore. metal and death core are more popular genres at the moment, though many people including myself prefer other genres like thrash a lot more. the most popular metalcore bands today i would say are bullet for my valentine, escape the fate, killswitch engage etc. i would then say one of the most popular metal bands other than metalcore bands is probably metallica. even if you dont like it death magnetic went to number 1 in the billboard 200 so clearly it was popular.
