Is it haram to make dua for a sports team to win/ lose?

Haha no. Thats just something the old and outdated gripe about. Prophet Muhammed (S) himself encouraged competition with Ayesha. As long as you are not praying for real harm to come to someone than you are fine. Losing a game does not constitute as real harm and God understands your intentions.
