Pioneer surround sound remote stopped working?

i got the surround sound out of my wardrobe after like, 3 years, set it all up, everything works fine i turned it on with the remote, but after then, the remote did nothing, didn't work, i changed the batteries and still nothing, anyone got an suggestions? i have no idea of the model, all i can say is i have a centre speaker a sub woofer and 2 speakers that can Split in half to make 4 speakers.
